Beauty Looks the Fall 2017 Ready-to-Wear runways didn’t just offer wardrobe inspo—beauty directors also set the tone for how we’ll be wearing our makeup this season. From bold eyes to cropped cuts, these are the standout looks we loved, along with the must-have products to recreate them.
This season, the color wheel takes center stage, especially when it comes to eye makeup. Depending on your mood, the look can swing from fun—like Oscar de la Renta’s two-shade lids Beauty Looks—to refined and chic with Valentino’s deep burgundy flicks, or even full-on avant-garde, as seen in Maison Margiela’s graphic eye art.
Perfectly crisp lips are out—this fall is all about that “just kissed” effect. Erin Fetherston goes for a gradient ombré pout for an understated vibe, Beauty Looks while Giambattista Valli turns up the shine with high-impact gloss. For a more literal take, Preen sends models down the runway with color blurred beyond the lip line, mimicking a post-smooch flush.

As a counterpoint to the heavily sculpted contouring and sharply drawn Instagram brows of the past seasons, many shows this year sent models down the runway with almost invisible makeup. Lightly brushed brows, a whisper of blush, and the most understated lips gave the women at Coach 1941, Isabel Marant, and Stella McCartney a sense of effortless chic that’s undeniably appealing. The Fall 2017 Ready-to-Wear runways offered more than just wardrobe ideas—the beauty authorities also handed out fresh cues for how we’ll be approaching makeup this year. From bold eyes to cropped hairstyles, here are the standout beauty looks of the season, along with the products to help recreate them.
VIBRANT EYES
Maison Margiela RTW Fall 2017
The color spectrum has long sparked beauty inspiration, and this season it’s showing up on eyelids everywhere. Depending on your approach, the style can range from playful—like Oscar de la Renta’s two-tone shadows Beauty Looks—to subtly seductive, as with Valentino’s burgundy wing, or fully experimental, seen in the graphic designs at Maison Margiela.
BLURRED LIPS
Erin Fetherston RTW Fall 2017
Say goodbye to sharp lip liners—the season’s trend is all about a lived-in, just-kissed effect. Erin Fetherston presented a softer version with gradient ombre lips, while Giambattista Valli leaned on high-shine gloss for added drama. Preen pushed the envelope with color that deliberately strayed past the edges, nailing the imperfectly perfect smudge.
EFFORTLESS GLOW
Isabel Marant RTW Fall 2017
As a reaction to past seasons of overdone makeup and hyper-defined brows, this year saw models wearing minimal looks. Groomed brows, a gentle flush on the cheeks, and lips in their most natural state gave the models at Coach 1941, Isabel Marant, and Stella McCartney a cool, carefree appeal.
BOLD LINER
Eyeliner is still the go-to trick for instant glamour, but Fall 2017’s shows revealed endless ways to reinvent it. At Balmain, smoky eyes were lit with shimmering copper, while Versace took drama up a notch with exaggerated cat eyes. Marni delivered a more avant-garde version, tracing liner along unconventional shapes for a strikingly artistic finish.
Hair trends also made their mark. Since the lob craze, models have embraced shorter styles on the runway. Prada’s cropped cuts highlighted facial structure, while tousled bobs with side-swept waves evoked chic Parisian flair. Accessories also had a moment: jeweled headbands at Chanel and berets at Christian Dior complemented shorter hair beautifully.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Terno Gala 2025, spearheaded by Cary Santiago, has become a prominent event in the country’s fashion calendar, celebrating the iconic Terno—a national garment deeply rooted in cultural heritage. Supported by the Cebu City Government, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and the Cebu Tourism Commission, the gala entered its third year with six masterful designers: Jun Escario, Edwin Ao, Protacio Empacis, Cary Santiago, Jojie Lloren, and Joey Samson. Their collections highlighted exquisite artistry, showcasing intricate embroidery and refined handwork that elevated traditional aesthetics.
The evening unfolded with the accompaniment of a live orchestra, weaving an atmosphere that resonated with the designers’ reinterpretation of the Terno. The experience engaged the senses, echoing the seamless blend of fashion and music, and was highlighted by the presence of distinguished figures from both fashion and society.
Few garments embody the depth of Filipino tradition and culture as profoundly as the Terno. The Philippine Terno Gala stands as both a celebration and an homage to Filipino identity, affirming the value of cultural heritage in today’s world.

What most guests at fashion shows don’t see is that the true battlefield lies behind the curtain. Backstage, the real enchantment happens Beauty Looks— where designers, stylists, make-up artists, dressers, and models bring visions to life in the hours leading to showtime. At the recent Philippine Terno showcase, a dynamic team of creatives crafted a dazzling and imaginative reworking of this treasured piece of the nation’s cultural fabric.
At Take Me to the Sea, Amato by Furne One presented more than just a resort and bridal line — he unveiled an entire realm between tide and starlight, where ocean, fabric, and glamour wove themselves into every design.
Hosted at The Hall of the Crimson Resort and Spa Mactan, the event felt like a journey. As the sea murmured outside the glass, Amato’s gowns glided along the runway like sirens summoned to shore. Here are ten reasons why international stars return — again and again — to his ocean of artistry.
- Salt in the Craft
His designs carry the untamed elegance of the sea — textured, organic, unforgettable. Each bead, cut, and embellishment tells a story shaped by instinct and feeling. - Silk in the Movement
Despite their opulence, his creations seem to float. There is grace in the spectacle — flowing motion without heaviness. Perfect for artists who express themselves through movement. - Stardom in the Vision
Furne doesn’t follow fleeting trends — he creates legends. His gowns demand attention while letting the wearer’s brilliance shine through. - Salt as Spirit
His stitching holds a soul — an undercurrent of cultural pride and personal myth. His artistry has impact because it carries sincerity. - Silk as Enchantment
His fabrics do more than cover — they mesmerize. Every piece inspires touch, reverence, and wonder. - Stardom in the Silhouette
Furne is a master of form. He doesn’t just dress a figure — he sculpts presence. Ideal for red carpets, concert halls, and cinematic icons. - Salt of the Earth
Despite international recognition, Furne stays humble. His grounded nature fosters collaboration, allowing intimacy and trust in the creative journey. - Silk-Wrapped Power
There is gentleness, but never weakness. These dresses radiate strength — cloaked in grace yet unflinchingly daring. - Stardom as Transformation
To wear Amato is more than embellishment — it is metamorphosis. The moment a star dons a Furne One masterpiece, they transcend into legend. - Salt, Silk, and the Maestro Himself
Furne One is the thread that binds. With quiet magnetism and a generous heart, he does not simply clothe celebrities — he disarms them. From that surrender comes the rarest gift an artist seeks: awe. - And in Amato’s universe, awe always prevails.

As a kid, I would eagerly pore over every ounce of fashion week coverage from around the world. When the time came, I’d spend hours analyzing designer collections, pinning photos to my wall for inspiration, and most importantly (and fitting for my current role), obsessing over the bold, imaginative beauty looks that somehow topped themselves year after year. Not much has changed since then. I still track fashion week updates like it’s my full-time job and keep a meticulously curated Pinterest board brimming with beauty and style inspiration from the shows.
You’d assume by now that the world of hair and makeup has seen it all, but fashion week always proves otherwise. The runway continues to deliver surprises—looks that are equal parts inspiring and unexpected, whether practical for daily life or not. To give you a glimpse of what’s trending for the upcoming spring/summer season, I’ve pulled together some standout beauty themes from the catwalks of New York, Paris, and Milan. Spoiler alert: think bold graphic liner, gleaming metallic finishes, and glitter galore. Scroll on to discover more, plus a few product picks to help you recreate the vibes yourself.
Let’s kick things off with the scene in New York. Statement liner was everywhere. And by statement, I don’t mean the usual subtle definition—we’re talking bold and unapologetic. Traditionally, eyeliner stays confined to the corners or the lash line, right? This season, it became the star of the show, used in place of shadow or layered dramatically on top of it. The best part? It’s surprisingly easy to try out at home with a trusty gel or pencil liner.
